Head of School Message
It has been an exciting week this week as we appointed our new pupil councils. We were delighted to see so many children putting themselves forward for these opportunities and the staff were grateful it was the children who had to choose who to appoint!
We have been busy practising songs for our Harvest Festival – we hope to see lots of you in Church next Friday at 9.30am.
Just a quick reminder that we also have our Gardening Day coming up on Saturday 12th October from 9am. We hope to see lots of you there as there is a lot of work to do to prepare the grounds ready for winter. Free bacon baps and hot drinks provided by FOBS!
As the colder weather draws in, please ensure your child has a suitably warm coat for breaktimes and lunchtimes. We already have a large amount of lost property so please put your child’s name into each item of clothing.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Mavin

Parent Consultations
We are really looking forward to having the opportunity to talk to you about your child or children towards the end of this half term.
Our parent consultations will be taking a slightly different format this year. Instead of booking an appointment time slot, parents will be welcomed into the classrooms at any time within the given time frames. The teacher(s) will be available to talk to you about how your child has settled into their new class or year group, and you will have opportunity to look at the work your child has completed so far this year.
We will be opening up the classrooms to parents from 2pm to 3pm, and then from 3.30pm – 5.30pm on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd October.
Formal parent consultation appointments with bookable appointment slots will take place in the Spring term.
Parent Lunches
We are delighted to be able to invite parents in on a half-termly basis to enjoy a school lunch with your child on Wednesdays.
This will begin with parents from Willow Class invited to join their child on Wednesday 6th November. There is no requirement to pre-order, and Claire in the kitchen will be cooking a roast dinner or a jacket potato if you prefer.
If you would like to join your child, your child’s sQuid account will be charged £3. Please let the school office know if you are able to attend.
Spooky Disco Tickets
Please remember to purchase your Spooky Disco Tickets from the School Office before they sell out!

Harvest Donations
As part of our Harvest Celebrations, we will be taking a donation to the Shrewsbury Food Bank after the Harvest Service on Friday 11th October. If you are able to give a donation, please leave it at the table set up outside the main office before Friday 11th.
We welcome donations of any non-perishable items but the Food Bank is in particular need of soup, microwave rice, jam/spread, tinned main meals, laundry tablets, UHT milk
Shrewsbury Food Bank organises and distributes parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families every week.
They seek to help those that find themselves in times of real hardship by addressing their most basic of needs – food and household items.
Food banks are an essential service in communities across the country and in the last few years they have helped thousands of people in need. Through foodbank PLUS, Shrewsbury Food Bank is now able to help people beyond the short term fix and empower them to face a more positive future.
Staff News
Ms Arblaster
Ms Arblaster has sadly taken the decision to leave Bicton School due to ill health. Ms Arblaster was hugely popular amongst children and staff and we would like to thank her for the care and dedication she showed during her time with us. She would like to wish all the children and parents well and thank you for your support during the last few years – she will miss you all very much. I’m sure you will join us in wishing her the very best as she moves to Staffordshire to be nearer her grandson, Freddie.
Mrs Benyon
Mrs Benyon is currently absent from school but is expected to return before the half term. Mrs Rebecca Hilton is covering Birch Class in her absence on Mondays and Tuesdays.
