Parent Drop-Ins

Good afternoon parents/carers,
We have a slight timetable clash with our parent drop-ins on Wednesday 23rd October.
Each class will be showcasing their PE dance performances at 2.45pm – 3.15pm in the hall so the parent drop-ins will be from 2-2.30pm and 3.30-5.30pm.
Many thanks, Mrs Mavin

Harvest Donations

As part of our Harvest Celebrations, we will be taking a donation to the Shrewsbury Food Bank after the Harvest Service on Friday 11th October. If you are able to give a donation, please leave it at the table set up outside the main office before Friday 11th.

We welcome donations of any non-perishable items but the Food Bank is in particular need of soup, microwave rice, jam/spread, tinned main meals, laundry tablets, UHT milk

Shrewsbury Food Bank organises and distributes parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families every week.

They seek to help those that find themselves in times of real hardship by addressing their most basic of needs – food and household items.

Food banks are an essential service in communities across the country and in the last few years they have helped thousands of people in need. Through foodbank PLUS, Shrewsbury Food Bank is now able to help people beyond the short term fix and empower them to face a more positive future.

Mrs Bowes’ visit to 10 Downing Street

Mrs Bowes was recently invited to a special event at 10 Downing Street to celebrate 20 years of parkrun.

The event was hosted by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Lucy Frazer MP, Secretary of State for Culture Media & Sport. As part of the event, Mrs Bowes took part in a mini ‘parkrun’ that started in the Downing Street Garden, went up and down Downing Street twice, before running through the famous front door, and up the stairs where Mr Sunak shook her hand. Mrs Bowes was really excited that Larry the Downing Street cat came out to say hello whilst she was there!

Mrs Bowes has been involved with parkrun since 2013; she was part of the team that set up Shrewsbury parkrun and is still a Core Team member. As well as volunteering at Shrewsbury, Mrs Bowes is a parkrun Volunteer Regional Ambassador for the West Midlands area. As part of this role, she has guided the setting up of several parkruns and junior parkruns across the region. She has also been involved in setting up 2 custodial parkruns. When she is not volunteering on a Saturday and Sunday am, Mrs Bowes enjoys running the events.

Thank you for the donations received this term for our Early Years areas – the children and staff are so grateful!

Wintery Welly Wednesday session

The children were really excited to visit the Forest School area this afternoon.  Our first session of the New Year and there was snow!  The children enjoyed making snow sculptures, writing and drawing in the snow, using the magnifying glasses to examine the ice/snow in closer detail, baking snow cakes and looking at all the different tread prints/patterns their wellington boots made.

The Three Little Pigs

Good Morning Acorns and Willow Class.  Ms Stone, myself and staff hope you have all had a super weekend.

Thank you for all the lovely feedback from last week’s story, we especially enjoyed seeing videos of the children retelling the story.

This week our story is The 3 Little Pigs, once again presented by Ms Stone.  Enjoy, we hope you have a good week.
