Breakfast Club

We’ve noticed that several children are bringing in spreads for toast, as well as different cereals, to eat at Breakfast Club.  Please could we ask you not to send in food items as we need to consider other children’s allergies and food intolerances.  We already provide a range of cereals and spreads to cater for children’s different tastes but, after talking to children in Breakfast Club this week, we will be ordering additional spreads for them to choose from next week.

Thank you for your support with this and please do not hesitate to speak to myself or a member of staff at Breakfast Club if you have any queries.

Parents Evenings and Clubs

The booking system for our Spring term parents evenings, on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March, will open on the website this Friday.  As previously, there will be NO CLUBS on those two evenings.

Book Appointments here:

We are hoping to start football club next Wednesday but this depends on the field having dried out sufficiently. Mrs Jones will update the calendar on the website on Friday, if it is going ahead.

Many thanks.

For information – Shrewsbury Town Football

Shrewsbury Town have emailed the following information, if you are interested please contact them.

ENGLAND WOMEN TO PLAY WORLD CUP QUALIFIER AT SHREWSBURY

England Women are set to play their key World Cup qualifier against Ukraine at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow stadium.  The Lionesses, who sit top of their qualifying group after winning all of their four games played, will take on Ukraine on Thursday 8 May 2014.  The match, which kicks off at 7.30pm, will also be broadcast live on BBC 2.

Tickets are on sale now and priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions (U16s, over 65s and students).  A family ticket, for two adults and two children, is available at £10.   A win would bring England a step closer to qualification for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup which takes place in Canada.  England’s next game in their campaign is against Montenegro on Saturday 5 April at Brighton’s AMEX Stadium.

England Women manager Mark Sampson, said: “”I am pleased to be taking the team back to Shrewsbury Town and using their excellent stadium.  “The club and local community have shown fantastic support to the England Womens team in the past and I am sure this will be the case again in May.  “I really hope our supporters will be out in force come May for what will be a tough match for us against a strong Ukraine team.”

Shrewsbury last hosted England Women in 2010, when they took on Switzerland as part of a successful 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign.  The club has also staged England Men’s U19s, U20 and Under 21 internationals, including England U21’s Euro qualifier v San Marino in November 2013.  For tickets please visit http://www.shrewsburyfc.talent-sport.co.uk/ or telephone 01743 273 943.  For more information about England Women please visit www.thefa.com.

Thank you!

Just a quick note to say a big thank you for supporting our bun sale yesterday. The children in Class 2 had made the buns and run the stall themselves, collecting money and giving change! It was a success and we have raised nearly £40 to spend on costumes for our role play area.

Morning Arrival

We are seeing more and more children arriving late for school at the moment and we would like to remind parents and carers of the procedures we have in place for children coming into school.

The bell for morning registration is rung at 8:55 a.m. and the side gate on to the playground is locked by 9:00 a.m. If children arrive after 8.55 and the gate is still open, children are expected and quite able to go onto the playground and into class on their own without their parents. If the side gate has been locked, children should go to the main entrance where Mrs Jones or Mrs Neal will accompany children into class.

Whilst we appreciate that parents often want to pass a message on to a class teacher, our priority in the morning is to get the children settled and to do attendance and dinner registers.  We strive to develop children’s independence and confidence from when they start school and going into class on their own is part of their development.

Mrs Jones and Mrs Neal are more than happy to pass on messages to staff but if you feel that you need to speak to your child’s class teacher, could we please ask that you try to do so at the end of the school day or leave a message for them to phone you during the day which they are more than happy to do.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Many thanks for your support.
