Making chocolate Easter nests

We made chocolate Easter nests in Class 3 this morning! The children can’t wait to eat them later on…

Forest School in Class 3

We had a great time in Forest School this morning. The children explored the site, which has had a few changes since they last did Forest School and many children worked together to build shelters, move logs and find bugs!

News from Condover

The children have had a great few hours since arriving at Condover and spent this evening playing different outdoor games. There is no WiFi connection in the accommodation block so staff have been unable to upload any photos but they will try to post some photos tomorrow.

Class 3 Weekly Update

English: This week we have been working towards writing our own short story about giving George’s Marvellous medicine to someone else and seeing what happens to them. We have spent the week coming up with lots of interesting ideas of what could happen and have thought of lots of interesting ways to describe these using adjectives, adverbs and similes. The children had a go at writing their own story towards the end of the week and have focused on using the above features as well as different punctuation and short sentences to make it more exciting.

The children doing Read, Write, Inc have been reading a story this week about a spider. They have had a go at writing a story about the spider and the different things he likes to eat, focusing on their handwriting, spelling and adjectives.

Maths: We have moved onto measurement this week. The Year 2 children have been practising their measuring skills – using centimetres and metres to measure different things around school. The Year 3 children have been learning about perimeter. They have been measuring the sides of shapes to find the perimeter and have been using their knowledge of the properties of shapes to help them – e.g. you would only need to measure one side on a square as all the sides are equal.

Science: The children have been working with magnets and have done an investigation to find out which magnet is the strongest.

RE: We have been talking about the Easter story and how Jesus came so people could be forgiven. We discussed times in life when we might find it hard to forgive each other and wrote some prayers relating to this.

D&T: The children made their scones this week and we all had a lovely time enjoying them at our British Afternoon Tea.

We have also spent time this week preparing for our performance in Celebration Assembly.

Well done Class 3 for all your hard work this week!

Class 3 Weekly Spellings – to be tested on Friday 20th April

Due to the Year 3 children being away next week at Condover, these spellings will not be tested until the week we come back after Easter.

Afternoon Tea

On behalf of all the children and staff, we would like to say a big thank you to those of you who were able to join us for afternoon tea. We had a lovely time enjoying scones and singing!

Year 2 Homework

Dear Parents/Carers,

The Year 2’s have been asked to complete pages 38 and 39 in their SAT Buster Maths Reasoning book this week.

Please could this be handed in on Monday 26th March so that I can set the children further work for over Easter before I leave for Condover on Tuesday 27th March.

There were a few children who didn’t have their book in school, we have had a good look for it but would appreciate it if you could look at home also.

Thank you,

Miss Barratt
