Parent Drop-Ins

Good afternoon parents/carers,
We have a slight timetable clash with our parent drop-ins on Wednesday 23rd October.
Each class will be showcasing their PE dance performances at 2.45pm – 3.15pm in the hall so the parent drop-ins will be from 2-2.30pm and 3.30-5.30pm.
Many thanks, Mrs Mavin

Harvest Donations

As part of our Harvest Celebrations, we will be taking a donation to the Shrewsbury Food Bank after the Harvest Service on Friday 11th October. If you are able to give a donation, please leave it at the table set up outside the main office before Friday 11th.

We welcome donations of any non-perishable items but the Food Bank is in particular need of soup, microwave rice, jam/spread, tinned main meals, laundry tablets, UHT milk

Shrewsbury Food Bank organises and distributes parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families every week.

They seek to help those that find themselves in times of real hardship by addressing their most basic of needs – food and household items.

Food banks are an essential service in communities across the country and in the last few years they have helped thousands of people in need. Through foodbank PLUS, Shrewsbury Food Bank is now able to help people beyond the short term fix and empower them to face a more positive future.

Choral Day

Some of our Year 6 pupils took part in a choral day at Shrewsbury High School as part of their outreach programme.  They had a wonderful day culminating in a 300 pupil performance for parents and carers.

Mr Harris’ and Miss Robinson’s group – gorge walking

This group walked up the gorge rather than down to the sea and you can clearly see how well they dealt with the challenges and what a great time they had!

Year 6s’ Visit to Theatre Severn

Year 6 had a great time at the BookFest award ceremony on Tuesday, where they heard from different authors about the inspiration behind their books.
Huge congratulations to Ashanti and Oscar L who won prizes in the art and letter writing competitions!

Christingle Service

Thank you poster Ch.Soc.2023

We received the following message from the organisers of the Christingle Service at The Abbey which was lovely to hear – very well done Oak class and thank you to everyone who donated and purchased cakes.

“Please thank your pupils for making their Christingles, for their readings and prayers and for their excellent behaviour.  It was a delight to host them in the Abbey.”

Worship Committee Visit to Montford Church

Our Worship Committee spent a wonderful morning at Montford Church, exploring inside and outside the church.  They viewed the beautiful diorama, created thier own artwork and even learnt to play the handbells. Click the link below to see how quickly they picked it up – this was filmed just 10 minutes after they were introduced to the handbells!

Worship Committee 08.12.23

We are hoping this group of children will be able to come along to the Bicton Church Carol Service on Sunday 17th to play for the community.

Thank you to Reverend Hannah, Andrina, Tricia and Janet for such a lovely morning 🙂

Oak class fundraising

cake sale

Next week, Oak Class will be attending a Christingle Service at Shrewsbury Abbey.
We will be bringing with us a donation to The Children’s Society on behalf of Bicton School and we have set ourselves a target of £100.
Oak Class have decided to hold a bake sale to raise the money and we would be hugely grateful for any cake/cookie/flapjack/traybake donations for Year 6 to sell at breaktime and lunchtime.
Please bring in any baking donations in the morning on Tuesday 28th November and thank you in advance for your support.
(No nuts and please attach a list of ingredients in homemade donations).

Thank you in advance for your support.
