Parent Drop-Ins

Good afternoon parents/carers,
We have a slight timetable clash with our parent drop-ins on Wednesday 23rd October.
Each class will be showcasing their PE dance performances at 2.45pm – 3.15pm in the hall so the parent drop-ins will be from 2-2.30pm and 3.30-5.30pm.
Many thanks, Mrs Mavin

Harvest Donations

As part of our Harvest Celebrations, we will be taking a donation to the Shrewsbury Food Bank after the Harvest Service on Friday 11th October. If you are able to give a donation, please leave it at the table set up outside the main office before Friday 11th.

We welcome donations of any non-perishable items but the Food Bank is in particular need of soup, microwave rice, jam/spread, tinned main meals, laundry tablets, UHT milk

Shrewsbury Food Bank organises and distributes parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families every week.

They seek to help those that find themselves in times of real hardship by addressing their most basic of needs – food and household items.

Food banks are an essential service in communities across the country and in the last few years they have helped thousands of people in need. Through foodbank PLUS, Shrewsbury Food Bank is now able to help people beyond the short term fix and empower them to face a more positive future.

Welcome back!

Hello and welcome back to school!

We hope that you have had a lovely and restful summer and are looking forward to the new term as much as we are in Maple class.

We have had a very busy 1st full week back in school. We have been learning the ‘meet and greet’ song in French. In Science, we have been learning about sound vibrations and how sound travels. We did a mini investigation with a drum and some rice to show how the size of vibrations change depending on the loudness of the sound.

For Roald Dahl day, we made our own bookmarks and we had a lovely afternoon reading with some children from nursery. We also took a class photo to show off our amazing Roald Dahl day costumes!

Please continue to read with your child regularly. The children should have brought home their free read book and their new reading record. Logins for Times Tables Rock Stars will be going home next week. New spellings will be given out each week. There will be no traditional spelling test but you may wish to practise these further at home.

Years 3 and 4 Swimming – Starts Friday 26th April.

Just a reminder that Swimming for Year 3 and 4 starts next week on Friday 26th April –  we need to leave promptly at 8.55am.
Please can you complete the permission form and payment on sQuid at the same time.
As mentioned, due to budget constraints, we need to request a contribution of £6.00 per session – £30 in total.  We can only afford to take children swimming through your voluntary contributions and we are heavily subsidising the costs.   Swimming is part of the National Curriculum and we do encourage all children to take part.
All payments/permission forms need to be made by Thursday 25th at the latest.
