English – We have started our new novel study for the term, ‘Who let the Gods out?’ by Maz Evans. The children have been looking at signs of the zodiac and making models of their own constellation and writing a description about their own their own sign. We have started reading the book and the children have enjoyed it so far. They wrote a character description based on the main character, Elliot and were asked to include lots of interesting adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions and similes/metaphors to add detail to their sentences.
Maths – We have started a new block on decimals. Some children have been making a whole and writing decimals by understanding the value of each digit. Other children have been adding decimals within 1 and subtracting decimals within 1 using the column method to work out their answers.
Topic – We have started our new topic on ‘Ancient Greece’ and discussed in groups/as a class about what they know about Greece. They had lots of ideas and enjoyed talking about their own experiences of the country.
Art – We have started looking at Greek tragedy and comedy masks and have designed our own masks to start making next week.
REÂ – Introducing the idea of the Kingdom of God and what happened on the day of the Pentecost.
