The children have had a brilliant first day back!
We started with a Letters and Sounds lesson to see what we could remember from before the holidays and then focussed on the alternative spelling of the ‘oa’ phoneme. The children came up with lots of words that have the ‘oa’ phoneme present e.g. boat, flow, smoke, dough, etc.
Class 2 then had a Numeracy lesson on doubling numbers. We recognised that we have to add the same number to make it a double and used dominoes to help us count. Some children had beads to help them double greater numbers and worked in pairs to work these out.
Before lunch Mrs Tan came for Ocarina, the children were very impressive with their behaviour and knowledge today and I enjoyed hearing them play the tune they learnt.
After lunch, I introduced our new topic ‘Towns and Country’, we made a mind map of all the ways we could recognise a town and how we could recognise the countryside, the children had some fantastic ideas!
We finally finished the day with PE. The children had fun in the hall with Jack, making up their own games with the equipment provided.
