Class 3 Weekly Update

English: We have continued our work on poetry this week and the children have written some poems similar to the ones they have read. They wrote their own ‘Sounds in the evening’ poem where they described all the different sounds they can hear at night time. We have been revising adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and fronted adverbials through this work and the children have been challenged to use these within their writing,

Maths: We have been doing some work on measurement this week. The children have been measuring in mm, cm and m and have done some work on converting these measurements.

Science: This week we have learned about the pollination process and have had a go at describing and ordering the process.

Geography: We have ended our work on settlements by designing our own settlement and creating a map of it. The children were very good at giving reasons for their positions of the different features and including a key on their map.

This week we have spent some time preparing and practising for celebration assembly and the children had a great day on transition day in Class 4.

Just so you are aware, the children have not been given new spellings for next week due to it being the end of term.

As it is the last week of term next week, please could you ensure your child brings a carrier bag to school as throughout the week we will be sending home children’s work from this year.

Thank you! Enjoy your weekend!

Celebration Assembly: Thursday 20th July

The children are all looking forward to sharing some of the songs we have been learning this term with you.

This time we would like the children to come to school ready to perform.  The boys will need to wear  either a yellow or black top (or both) with dark bottoms.  For the girls we would like to see gold and green and/or colourful clothing.

I won’t give anymore away.

We look forward to seeing lots of you next week.

Gardening evening 12.07.17 – help needed!

Can anybody spare an hour this Wednesday after clubs have finished?  David Orrell and Graham will be at school from 4:30 onwards and they would really appreciate some extra pairs of hands to lay more bark on the paths and install the rest of the musical instruments in the wildlife garden.

If you are able to help, please speak to myself or to Mrs Orrell or just leave a message for us at the school office.

Thank you in advance for your support.

FOBS event – revised poster

Please see below a revised version of the poster from FOBS about the end-of-year event. Apologies about the version which was originally emailed out.

End of year event 2017

Arthog Thank You

Thank you to all the children who went to Arthog for what was a fabulous long weekend. The children’s behaviour was some of the best we have ever experienced and as for their effort and perseverance … they should all feel very proud of themselves for what they achieved. It was genuinely an absolute pleasure to be away with them and they did Bicton proud!

We will upload the rest of the many photos taken, over the next couple of days.

Mrs Johnson, Mrs Walton, Mrs Pat Johnson and Jack.

Tempest – Class Photographs

Please can we have all Class photograph orders by the end of the day tomorrow as Tempest are collecting them from us on Wednesday.

Thank you.

Oswestry School Science Day

Just a reminder that it is the Oswestry School Science Day tomorrow for the 5 Year 5 children who have been chosen from Class 4.

Children need to ensure they have a jumper/cardigan with them and a coat if it is bad weather.  Lunch will be provided by Oswestry School.

We will be leaving school at 9.00am sharp and returning by 3.15pm.

Forest School

Just a reminder that forest school sessions are on tomorrow so the children will need to bring clothes appropriate for the weather (we are expecting rain).

Thank you
