What’s in the box?

As part of our topic on Light, we used a feely box where we had to describe a mystery object in the box to illustrate the effect of darkness and how we need light to see objects. The descriptions given to describe each object were fantastic and we heard some excellent scientific vocabulary being used to describe everyday objects including: a glass jug, a cork coaster, a foam ball, a plastic vehicle and even a metal curtain tieback!

We definitely have some super scientists in Class 4 and we even started to talk about the pupils in our eyes and how they increase in size to let more light in. Well done Class 4!

Class 4 role play

Today in English, we read the part of our class novel, Seal Surfer, where the seal pup is nowhere to be seen. We role played what Grandfather and Tom would have felt looking out to sea and what they might have said to each other.

Class 1 – Week 1

Class 1 children have had a super first week of school. All the children have settled in really well and we are really proud of them all.

This week has been all about settling into daily Class 1 and school routines and making new friends.  The children were very excited on Wednesday to be put into School Houses and have the chance to meet older children in the same house.

Maths

This term Reception children will be concentrating on numbers 1 – 5 and Year One children on numbers up to 10. This week we looked at what 1 is – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zjan6evga7g&list=PLsCbn8m6nYGYD9Ju5_ygJSUhaCRNGM8UT

and what happens when there is another one.

Year 1 children concentrated on looking at one more and number facts for 2.

Our song for Maths is 1,2,3,4,5

Next Week:

Tuesday – Forest School Session 1 of 6  (Children to come to school ready)

Wednesday – PE – Balance Bike Session 1 of 6.   It would be useful if you could put a pair of jogging pants / long leggings into your child’s PE bag.

Have a lovely weekend 🙂

Parent survey- correct email!

Many apologies but yesterday’s email about the parent survey should have asked if you could spare ‘a couple of minutes’ to complete it not ‘a couple of parents!’

We would be really grateful if you could complete the online survey below. The outcomes of the survey will support our staff and governors in our school improvement planning and we thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey.

School Uniform

Please could we request that all items of school uniform, including coats, footwear and PE kit, are labelled with your child’s name to avoid items being mislaid.  Just a gentle reminder as well that trainers or pumps are not permitted as school shoes. Thank you.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday and see you on Tuesday!
