Happy Christmas From Severn Loop

Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas! Here is the link to our BIG Severn Loop Christmas celebration!

https://youtu.be/fDsj1xR8ZKY

We offer you  …   lovely music, carols, readings, a reflection, sights and sounds of children from Bicton and Bomere schools as well as churches all over the Loop – and most importantly the faces of familiar friends (including some of you), all sharing in wishing you a very Happy Christmas.

We suggest you enjoy this perhaps on Christmas Day, but the service will be there for you from now on. If anyone is able to share the link with families from our schools, we’d be so grateful- it is for everybody, any age!

We very much hope you will enjoy as a gift the chance to belt out some carols at home and draw close to the manger, whether you are able to be at church this Christmas or not.  However you are spending these next days, stay as safe as you possibly can – and let’s pray for a much happier and healthier New Year for our nation and the world.

God bless you in this holy season of Christmas ~
Mary-Lou and Hannah xx

Whole school Christmas performance 2020

Christmas may look a little different this year to what we are normally used to but it certainly hasn’t stopped our children from shining brightly and reminding us what Christmas is all about. We hope you enjoy watching the performances which really show how our little acorns grow into mighty oaks!
Well done to all the children and staff for their hard work in creating such magical memories and for putting their videos together. A big thank you to Mrs Ross for bringing all the class performances together in one video and overcoming a lot of technical difficulties whilst doing so!

End of term news 18.12.20

Hello to all of our families,
The children have had an exciting last week in school with their virtual pantomime, visits to our Christmas grotto and shop and even a surprise delivery of selection boxes from, we presume, Santa! He made quite a bit of mess in school, leaving a trail of glitter wherever he went and Hazel class said they could even smell Santa on the floor where the glitter was!
Thank you to everyone for your support at this busy time of year and for helping us make Christmas in school as special as possible for all our children and staff.
Please make sure you have read the letter below (sent out on Monday) and that you contact me on the mobile number provided if your child tests positive for COVID-19 where symptoms developed within 48 hours of attending school. I thank you in advance for following the necessary steps which will help us keep the wider community safe and well.

News from Hannah – Online Christmas Celebrations from Severn Loop Churches
This year, we are providing an online Christmas extravaganza for all to enjoy! It’s a real sadness to us that we can’t hold our usual Carol and Crib Services, so we’ve made some films instead. Both will be released on Christmas Eve, and can be watched any time after that.

Here is your link to the first of our special online Christmas worship films, The Longest Night.   It’s intended to be watched on Monday, which is the longest night of the year as you know – and is a Christmas service for all those who are sad, lonely or grieving, or just not feeling festive this year. Carols, readings – quiet and reflective worship, light in the darkness.

Please feel free to send on the link to anyone you know who may find it helpful or a comfort this Christmas.

We will also be part of a joint Crib Service, released at 5pm on Christmas Eve at Facebook Live – Trinity Churches. It’ll be available any time afterwards- we hope you enjoy it!

Finally, look out for our BIG Christmas Film for the whole of Severn Loop- hopefully full of familiar faces and places!  A quick reminder to email me any festive photos or ‘Merry Christmas’ clips to share- by Sunday please.

The ministry team will be off duty, apart from responding to requests for funerals or pastoral emergencies, so we all send you our love and prayers for these final days of Advent and wish you a holy Christmas, that is safe and filled with the peace only Christ can give.

 Blessings,

Hannah x

Weekly News 11.12.20

Hello everyone,

There is lots of information in this week’s newsletter and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read everything.

Last day of term – Friday 18th December 2020

I am sure many of you will have heard or seen in the news that the government announced this week that schools could consider finishing on Thursday 17th instead of Friday 18th December. I just wanted to confirm that we are not changing our arrangements and the school term will end at your child’s normal finishing time on Friday 18th December with the children returning to school/nursery on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

A letter will be sent out on Monday with important information that we need parents to follow, should your child test positive for COVID-19 after the end of term and their symptoms emerged within 48 hours of them last being in school/nursery.

Parent governor election

We are delighted to announce that Ms Jessica Greenwood has been elected as our new parent governor and we thank her for taking on this key role within our school. Please see Jessica’s personal statement here Parent governor announcement December 2020

‘Shropshire Council, as admission authority for community and voluntary controlled schools in Shropshire, will be conducting a consultation exercise on School Admission Arrangements for 2022/23 and simultaneously co-ordinating a consultation exercise for any own admission authority schools proposing changes.  The consultation will commence on Friday 11 December 2020 until Monday 25 January 2021.’

Consult Parent notice 2021

Just to confirm, that Bicton CE Primary School is not proposing changes to our admission number for 2022/2023.

Carols on the Doorstep – Wednesday 16 December from 6 pm!

You may be aware of the Carols on the Doorstep event which started in Shrewsbury but is now ‘going national’ – we have been asked to help make sure that as many streets in possible take part in Shropshire on December 16th and to invite you all to join in!
To take part, stand on your doorsteps on Wednesday, December 16th from 6-7pm and tune in to BBC Radio Shropshire (96FM) who will be providing the backing music from last year’s Carols in the Square for you to sing along to. You are also asked to choose to donate, if you can, to a charity of your choice – there are four local charities suggested on their website.
You can also find the details at www.doorstepcarols.co.uk The words to the carols can be found there, along with simple sheet music for children to play along to on a variety of instruments (all the right key!).
Obviously the more the merrier – it would be wonderful to get the whole of Shropshire and the rest of the UK all singing together at the same time!
Why not also Decorate your Doorstep (see ‘Decorate’ on the website) – there are prizes available for the best decorated houses!
Understanding Your Child
Please see posters below about the parenting groups which are restarting virtually.
