Sports Day Thank You

On behalf of all the staff and children, we would like to thank everyone who came to watch the Sports Day events on Tuesday.  The children behaved impeccably and it was wonderful to see such sporting behaviour and perseverance, as well as lots of smiles and plenty of laughter.  We don’t normally mention children by name on the website but we think you’ll agree that Ernie deserves a special mention for his amazing commentary and for keeping everyone amused albeit a little bit anxious at times about what he was going to say next!

We are going to look through the photos tomorrow which were taken by Class 5 but it may take some time; some of you may remember reading last year how they took around 1,000 photos of the day and we suggested not taking so many this year.  They must have forgotten about this in their excitement at watching the events, as there are over 1,700 photos this year!

Thanks again

Mrs Johnson and staff

Sports Day Classes 4 & 5

Please could children in Classes 4 & 5 remember to bring their P.E kit to school tomorrow including their trainers and relevant coloured t-shirt.

Please could they also have a hat and drink in school and ensure they have sun cream applied before coming to school if the weather is warm.  We are aiming to start straight after lunch at 1:00.

Many thanks

Sports Day Classes 1, 2 & 3

Please could children in Classes 1, 2 & 3 come to school tomorrow morning wearing their P.E. kit (including their relevant coloured t-shirt) ready for Sports Day.

Please remember to send your child with a hat and drink and ensure they have sun cream applied if the weather is warm.

Many thanks.

Planting beans

This week Class 1 planted beans and will be using their mathematical skills over the next few weeks to measure how tall they grow. They also made ‘giant’ castles and planted these in their pots to see how far their beanstalks reach.

In the woods

This week when Class 1 went to the woods we used our story focus on ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to collect leaves and describe them.  Then the children worked in small groups to sort the leaves into groups using a Venn diagram.   Some children were asked to sort the leaves into more groups.

Class 1 PE

This term Class 1 will be playing tennis outside as part of our PE lessons.  As the weather is getting warmer please can you ensure your child brings in suncream, a sun hat and a water bottle for these lessons.

Also when they come into school on a Friday morning they can come into class straight away to get changed into their PE kit.  Once they have changed they will need to put their school clothes in their locker and go outside as normal until the bell rings.

Many thanks, Mrs Thomas

Class 1 homework

Please can all Class 1 children bring in a book that is special to them on Friday so they can talk about it with the rest of the class.

Many thanks

Mrs Thomas

Book bag system

As some of you may have noticed this morning, to save a little time we have changed the system for the book bags.

Your child can now put their own book bag straight into their tray.

If there is a note in their home-link book for us to read, please put the book into the red basket next to the trays. If you have something for the office, for example dinner money or a form, please ensure that this is in a named envelope and put it in the green basket.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you!

Mrs L Conde
