Arthog booking – reminder

Further to our email sent out last week, just a reminder that you need to book your child onto the Arthog visit via sQuid. The offer on sQuid includes a letter with all the information about the visit and the kit list.

Whilst the full balance is due by Friday 28th May, we need to confirm numbers with Arthog by tomorrow so we need you to book your child’s place if you have not already done so.

Thank you

Weekly News 23.04.21

Hi everyone,

We have had a lovely first week back in school and the sunshine has been a great start to the summer term!

Reception children vision screening

If your child is in Reception year, and you do not want them to take part in the vision screening next Friday, please return the form to let the school office know.

Punctuality

We have had very high numbers of children arriving at school late this week which means children from different bubbles all having to enter through the main entrance.  Please can you make sure that your child is at their bubble’s entrance by the relevant time, especially children in Maple and Rowan whose entrance door closes at 8:55 a.m. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Year 6 Bikeability

We have booked free Bikeability training for children in Year 6 from 12th to 14th May. Parents of Year 6 children have been emailed a permission form today which we need back as soon as possible please.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.

Year 6 – School Transport for September 2021

Any parents/carers of year 6 pupils, who wish to apply for free school transport for their child/children from September 2021, should do so before 31st May 2021. Applications can be made online at www.shropshire.gov.uk or over the phone with the Council’s Customer Service Team by calling 0345 6789008. Alternatively, should you require a paper copy of the application form, please do not hesitate to contact the school or Passenger Transport directly via email, schooltransport@shropshire.gov.uk or over the phone on the above telephone number. End of term news 01.04.21

Hello everyone,

Well…we’ve made it to the end of term and I for one am ready for the Easter break! The past few weeks have brought many challenges but we have got through it together. The resilience and community spirit we have seen from children, staff and parents this term has been wonderful to see, and it’s what makes our school and nursery so special and, for me, such an honour to be part of.

Thursday’s dressing-up day was the perfect end to the term and we cannot thank you enough for the time, effort and imagination that went into the wooden spoons, short stories, extreme reading photos and costumes.  I can honestly say, these were the hardest competition entries we have ever had to judge and there was a lot of deliberation! We will upload a photo gallery from today as soon as we get chance.

Ideas to keep children healthy and happy this Easter

Please see a link below to Telford and Wrekin Council’s website, with a vast range of ideas that you may find helpful over the Easter holidays.

Happy, healthy and active holidays

Thank you from FOBS

We would like to say a huge thank you for the amazing support and generous donations made to FOBS fundraising account over the past week. As of lunchtime on Thursday, an incredible £323 had been received in donations. Well done to all the children whose names were pulled out of the Easter basket and who won a prize. We still have some sweets to give out to Willow and Nursery children but we will keep them safe for you until we return to school!

Testing and contact tracing in schools over the Easter holidays

Following the success of the asymptomatic testing programme, it is vital to keep testing at home throughout the Easter holidays and into the summer term. Staff will:

  • continue to test twice a week at home (all those who are able to)
  • report positive, negative or void results using the report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result portal
  • test before returning to school for the summer term, to find and isolate any positive cases

Schools have been asked to continue with contact tracing over the Easter holidays.

For the purposes of contact tracing staff and parents need only inform Bicton School of a positive case if the symptoms develop within 2 days of being in school / nursery or if they have tested positive with a lateral flow device (LFD) test (and will subsequently need to book a confirmatory PCR test).

Please contact Mrs Johnson on 07922 081676.

School are asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school / nursery. If symptoms develop after 2 days, staff or parents do not need to inform us.

Where pupils or staff test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) during the holidays using an LFD test (or from a PCR test) more than 2 days since being in school / nursery, you only need to inform us if the individual will still be self-isolating after the Easter holidays. Staff, pupils and parents should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

We have all-age Pyjama Church online worship available for both Good Friday and Easter Day. It’ll be released at 9.30am in both cases. To access it, go to:
And if you’re not watching live, you’ll find it by clicking the link ‘Go to our Facebook Videos Page’. Finally. thank you to all who contributed to our mothering Sunday Worship – everyone around Severn Loop really appreicated it, and we were very touched to receive the wonderful paintings you’d all made.
With love and prayers this Easter time.

And finally…
On behalf of all our staff, thank you for your support over the past term and we wish all our families a happy, healthy and safe Easter. I have reminded the children to do their best not to return to school on the 19th with any broken bones or injuries and I will be doing my best to follow my own advice – not like last year!
