Class 4 Homework

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week we would like children to complete the reading, game and quiz on the BBC Bitesize website. The link is pasted below:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/science/materials/changing_states/read/1/

If children are not able to access the activity at home, they are welcome to use the school laptops at playtime next week.

Children are not required to hand anything in next Wednesday. If the half term homework on the Taiwanese earthquake is still outstanding, could children please complete this by next Monday as we will be looking at them in class.

Thank you for your support.

Spaghetti Maths – Assembly Reminder

This Thursday 25th February the school will be hosting an exciting assembly for Years 1-6 delivered by Spaghetti Maths, where ‘Jonny Cube’ will show the children some brilliant maths tricks and even blow a square bubble; parents are welcome to come along and watch the fun.

Following the assembly Spaghetti Maths would like to run a series of after-school maths clubs, aimed at inspiring the children with a new approach to learning maths.  They will focus on fun, hands on learning and discovery, with sessions on gravity, pop up shapes and amazing number patterns. After each session the children will get to take home what they have done, to continue the learning at home.
You can visit the company’s website for more information www.spaghettimaths.co.uk
If you are interested, please come along to the assembly in the School Hall at 9:15 a.m.  on the 25th or speak to Mrs Helen Jones for more information.

We are having another dressing-up day for World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March and children (and staff!) can come to school dressed up as a book character of their choice. Children will receive a £1 book voucher next week which can be spent in a range of participating stores; there is no charge for coming to school in non-uniform.

FOBs Valentine Disco – Thank You

Thank you to all the adults involved in FOBs and our resident DJ/balloon modeller/ entertainer Doug for another fantastic disco! Together with the recent Film Night, these events have raised over £440 which will benefit all the children of the school.

Parent Governor Election

Further to the recent ballot for a new parent governor, all votes received by the end of the school day on Friday were counted and verified today and Mr Steven Davies was duly elected.  We would like to thank all 3 candidates – Steven Davies, Juliette Jennings and Andrew Yamaguchi-Cooke – for standing for election and also to parents who returned ballot papers.

Kind regards

Mrs Johnson on behalf of the governing body

Parent Governor Election

Please can all ballot papers be in by tomorrow. Thank you.

Popcorn & PJ Film Night

Just a reminder that unfortunately for this event we are only able to accommodate children from Bicton School and not siblings who do not attend the school (as per event letter).  We apologise if this causes any inconvience.

THANK YOU!!

We would just like to say a massive thank you to all children and parents who made, bought and donated cakes and biscuits to our sale today.

Thank you also to the co-op who donated boxes of buns for us to sell.

In addition to this, many children brought money to spend and Class 4’s cake sale was a roaring success!

We will let you know exactly how much was raised and children in Class 4 will help decide exactly which natural disaster charity we will send the money to.

Cake Sale

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Wednesday 27th January at morning break, Class 4 will be holding a cake sale outside their classroom to raise money for people affected by the recent flooding.

A few of the children in the class had wanted to do something after learning about different natural disasters around the world as part of out topic ‘Extreme Earth’.

Class 4 would like to ask for any donations of cakes, buns or biscuits to be brought in before Wednesday.

The cake sale will be open to all children. Small cakes and biscuits will be 20p. Larger cakes and biscuits will be 50p. Please could children bring in no more than £2.

Thank you for your support,

Class 4
