Half term Junk model instruments and Mardi Gras

On Tuesday 6th of March the we will be having a Mardi Gras celebration day. The colours of Mardi Gras are Green, gold and purple, and we would like all the children to come to school wearing one, two or even all of those colours on that day.

On the day we will have a parade around school wearing our masks and playing our instruments, plus lots more Carnival fun.

Over the half term we would like children in Class 1 to make a musical instrument to bring into school on the first week back.  We would love to see what they can create using empty cereal boxes/tubes/ food packaging etc.  Don’t forget to put photos up on Tapestry of their creating.

The children will then get a chance to show the rest of the class their handiwork and the whole class will use them as part of our Mardi Gras celebrations.

We are also collecting junk modelling so that the children can do more junk modelling during Child Initiated times.

Special places

This half term we have been been looking at Special Places.  The children have talked about and drawn their Special place and explained why it is special to them.

We would like it if you can talk to your child about their Special place/s too and if possible send in photographs. We would also like to know about any Special family places, e.g. Where you got married, your child was Christened (photos of the church), places you visit.

Thank you.

Since returning to school the children have continued to revise Set 1 sounds.  We have focused on the first 10, and used these to form CVC words.

Some children have looked at some trickier digraphs and even a trigraph in Set 2. They have then had a go a writing words with these sounds in and thinking of and saying a sentence.

The children are very excited about our trip to the pantomime tomorrow. Please can you ensure your child wears school uniform and brings a packed lunch (no glass bottles please). Children are allowed to bring a healthy snack for the interval.
