Trip to Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

Just a little reminder we are going to Cheshire Ice Cream Farm tomorrow (Tuesday 15th May).  We are expecting lovely weather so the children will need to have sun cream applied before school and bring a sun hat with them please.

We will carry our bags with us all day so a comfortable rucksack/bag would be helpful to carry their lunch and water bottles. Cheshire Ice cream Farm has advised the children to bring a change of clothes for after the sand and water play but please ensure all children come to school in their school uniform.

We will leave after registration and will be returning before the end of the school day.

Thank you for your support!

Thank you to the parents that have confirmed they are attending tomorrows Forest School sessions. The children are looking forward to spending the morning sharing their outdoor learning with you.

We are expecting rain tomorrow so waterproof clothing would be advisable!

Parents who have confirmed they are attending the first session should arrive for 9am and parents attending the second session should arrive for 10:30am.

See you tomorrow.

Thursday’s Geography Lesson

Please could Class 2 children bring in wellies and a waterproof coat on Thursday. The children will be going on a walk around the village and into the woods to identify the similarities and differences between our woodlands and the jungles/rain forests they have been learning about in Geography.

Thank you

English Lesson in the Forest School

Just a reminder, following my message on Friday – I would like to take the children into the Forest School tomorrow morning as part of our English lesson. Please could the children come in any old clothing and appropriate footwear e.g. wellies or walking boots. They will also need a waterproof coat and if available, waterproof trousers. If the weather is a little bit wet we will still go outside! The children will need to bring their school clothes to change into afterwards and their PE kits for PE with Mr Bebb in the afternoon.

Thank you

Class 2 weekly update

English: The children have continued in their groups with Read Write Inc this week. Green group and Yellow group have worked on their new books with lots of lovely discussions taking place whilst Blue and Red group have been thinking about our topic Rainforests. They have worked with Miss Roberts to describe a rain forest setting and created a poem linked to our topic. Thursday and Friday English lessons were based on our new class story Beegu. The children were encouraged to write a set of instructions, explaining how to make a jam sandwich as Beegu wanted to have a picnic!

Maths: The children have been developing their addition skills this week. They have been looking in depth at the part-whole model, e.g. if 5 is the whole number, what could the parts be? 4 + 1, 3 + 2, 5 + 0, etc. They have completed these models with numbers up to 10 using equipment or drawing the model to support them. The children have also discovered that addition is commutative (it can be completed in any order) and some children have completed problems and explained their reasoning to give themselves an additional challenge.

Geography: In Geography we imagined that we were in a jungle and came up with different scenarios. The children then role played these scenarios in a group and performed them to the class. They were then challenged to draw their journey in the jungle and write a sentence explaining what they saw on their adventure.

RE: In RE the children have continued with our topic Gospel – What is the good news Jesus brings? We discussed how Jesus chose 12 men to be his world-changers, but they were not who people might expect. They had to think of some qualities for world-changers e.g. strong, kind, clever, helpful, good at sharing, etc and decide who they would choose as their world-changers.

Computing: Computing this week, saw the children experimenting with the touch pad on a laptop. They were using a program to design their own house, using the touch pad to drag and drop different items such as a door, window, fence, etc. They made some beautiful houses!

Spellings: To be tested on Friday 19th January 2018.

Spellings 12.1.18

Homework: The children were given a piece of handwriting homework to complete and return on Friday 19th January 2018. Green group were focussing on forming their letters correctly using the lines to support them. Blue group are focussing on forming their letters of a consistent size using the sun, boat and water to support them. Yellow and Red group are to practise their leaders and descenders, making sure they take care to stay on the line. I have attached the Read Write Inc guidance for handwriting below (please see Handwriting 1b to support with sun, boat and water letter formation).

Nativity: Thank you for your support with the Nativity on Friday morning and Monday evening. The children did a fantastic job and made me very proud!

If you have any questions about the homework this week, please do not hesitate in coming to see me!

Tomorrows Science Lesson

Tomorrow afternoon I would like to take Class 2 on an Autumnal walk around the village to gather Autumn objects. We will then return to class to discuss and write about our findings. If you do not wish for your child to take part then please let me know in the morning.

Please could all children have their PE footwear in school and a warm coat for the walk.

Thank you

Miss Edwards

Tennis Friday am

Please can the children still come into school tomorrow morning in their PE kits, ready for Tennis (they should have all brought their kits home tonight). They then need to bring in their Pyjamas to change into after their Tennis lesson.

Thank you

Miss Edwards

Class 2 Tennis

Just a quick note to ask if Class 2 children could come into school on Friday mornings, in their PE kit ready for Tennis. They can then bring their school uniform with them to change back into after the lessons. This will allow the children to come in as usual and we can all make it down to worship on time 🙂

Mr Crefield sometimes take the children out onto the playground if the weather is dry so please could they wear something warm. Thank you.
