Plant a Fruit Tree

On Saturday 16th May 2015 we are planting the Orchard.

We  have received some of the trees for planting the orchard, and the raspberry canes.

Please come along and help garden, so the children can enjoy delicious fresh fruit straight from the tree.

10.30 onwards, this Saturday, refreshments provided.

Looking forward to seeing you, Catherine Orrell

Thanks to Defra and the RHS for the Incredible Edible Grant and    Severn Trent for the tools.

Incredible Edible Orchard

We have been awarded an Incredible Edibles Grant to plant an orchard.  This will be between the poly tunnel and dipping ponds (under construction), dwarf fruit tree varieties: apples, pears, Mirabella, plum, cherry, damson will be used.  And we plan to create a stepping stone path/trail between the trees.

On Saturday 16th May there is a working party to get the fruit trees planted.  From 12.00 midday, although some work will be started around 10.30.

Please come along and help dig, weed, plant or wheel barrow peat free compost, everyone is very welcome and the more the merrier.  Perhaps younger children can help plant up the raised beds with peas, beans, sweet peas, salad crops etc.

Really looking forward to a great day in the gardens and orchard.

Grow A Pound – Sale of items made/grown

Following on from last Fridays sale a few children have asked if we can have another sale tomorrow, Friday 24th.

The children have been told that this will be going ahead at break time and at the end of the school day. If your child wishes to participate, they can bring a small amount of money to buy the items.

Thank you very much for your support.

Grow A Pound

As part of this project we had planned to have a sale at school tomorrow, 17th April, to help the children sell items that they have made/grown.

The sale will be at break time and at the end of the school day. If your child wishes to participate, they can bring a small amount of money to buy the items.

Thank you very much for your support.

School Gardens

Here are some photos of the school gardens, I am hoping to inspire some budding gardeners!  Can anyone with some spare time to help grow, sow, plant out and water please inform reception so that FOBS can organise the help that is needed.  It maybe just 10 minutes after school, but that will help.

This season we will be helping Class 1 with their growing project, raised bed close to the classroom and vegetable garden, near the gate.  Planting some more “sea blue”  plants in the seascape plot.  Growing lots in the poly tunnel, and filling the two raised beds with produce for use in the school kitchen, or to be eaten straight from the plant.  And possibly have a Pumpkin Patch again.  The children had fun last year, hopefully we can organise some more interesting projects this growing season.

Also, any donations of plants surplus to your requirements will be most welcome.
