FOBs News!

Hello again from FOBS.

We wanted to update you in regards to our fundraising last term. We managed to raise a total of £811.42 over the three events. Again, thank you to everyone involved and for all contributions, as that is a really great total. Money raised will go towards equipment for the school playground.

We are hoping to organise an event for World book day in March. If you have any children’s books (any ages) that you no longer require, please would you consider donating them to us for a book sale? Any books can be left at school reception please. Thank you in advance.

Vision in Action

Huge congratulations to Alex in Year 5 who has been working hard to achieve his level 3 NICAS in climbing – the equivalent to a GCSE in climbing! He really enjoys problem solving on the indoor walls and is keen to explore outdoor climbing now. Well done Alex!

Year 4 Dodgeball

A group of Year 4 children travelled to the Corbet School on Wednesday to take part in a Dodgeball tournament. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and had a thoroughly enjoyable morning finishing in 6th place. Well done Year 4!

Severn Loop

Dear Friends- please be encouraged to come along to Loopy Sunday! Here is a message from Dave, explaining a bit more….

Hello everyone,

It’s just over a week into the new year, and already many people are having plans disrupted by the sudden snow. We hope that you are all keeping safe and warm.

However, one plan still going ahead is the launch of Loopy Sunday, our new, informal and interactive Sunday afternoon worship. The first one is this Sunday, 11 January, 3pm at Bomere Mission Church, which will be happening monthly going forwards, on the second Sunday of each month.

At Loopy Sunday we will begin informally by sharing refreshments together, before gathering for an interactive bible story. We then respond to the story through a range of prayerful activities, with a song and a final prayer. The whole thing should take about an hour.

Whether this sounds right up your street, or you are just curious to check it out, do come and join us! We’d love to see you there. And if you have any questions, or just want to let me know you are coming, feel free to email me – rev.latcham@gmail.com

FOBs news!

Happy New Year from FOBS! We wanted to thank you all for your donations and participation last term and we hope that the children enjoyed all of the activities.

We hope to update you soon about the amount raised for all of the events last term. We would like to thank all the volunteers and teachers that helped to run the events and the people that made donations towards the events.

We just wanted to put out a cheeky request that if anyone has any items left over from Christmas, we would be happy to use them for our future raffles and hampers. We would also appreciate any donations of Christmas decorations (must be in good condition) please for use in December. You can leave items at the school reception or we can possibly organise collections (you can notify us on Facebook if you want us to collect). Thank you in advance if you do have anything spare.

We look forward to planning more fun activities this term, and will update you as soon as possible.

Following my retirement at the end of the yearChristmas, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your kind words, thoughtful messages, and generous gifts have truly touched me and made this transition even more meaningful.

It has been an immense privilege to serve as Executive Headteacher and to work alongside such dedicated staff, governors, supportive families, and engaged stakeholders. Together, we have achieved so much for our students, and I am proud of the strong, caring community we have built.

Thank you for your trust, collaboration, and encouragement throughout my time here. I leave with countless fond memories and the confidence that the schools will continue to thrive under the leadership of such committed individuals.

Wishing you all continued success and happiness in the years ahead.

Head of School Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Happy New Year!

The children have returned for this term fresh, eager and ready to learn and it has been lovely to welcome them back to school. We have also been delighted to welcome Mrs Phoebe Davies to the teaching staff team. Mrs Davies brings with her a wealth of experience and she will be teaching Oak Class on Thursdays and Fridays.

All class pages on the website have the Spring Newsletters and Medium Term Planning available for you to look at. These will tell you what your child is learning this term, any ways that you can support at home and any information regarding PE days etc.

Thank you for your understanding over the school closure today and I hope your children have had some fun in the snow – we would love to see some snowy pictures!

My daughters enjoyed a snowball fight in their pyjamas at 9pm!

We have a busy term ahead and here are some key dates for your diary:

Monday 12th January – Young Voices trip to Birmingham. Pick up is now at 12.45pm so children can have a school lunch if they wish. Bring a packed tea! Return approximately 10.30pm.

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th January – Year 5 Bikeability

Wednesday 14th January – Year 4 Dodgeball tournament at the Corbet school (group of 8 children)

Thursday 22nd January 9am – Willow Class Stay, Read and Play session. Mrs Gairy has sent out details on Class Dojo.

Full school closure – Friday 9th January

Due to the adverse weather conditions and the amber weather warning currently in place, and with forecasts showing that conditions are expected to continue through the night, school will be FULLY CLOSED tomorrow, Friday 9th January.
The safety of our pupils, families, and staff is our priority. The combination of severe weather, a potentially unsafe site, and likely travel difficulties for both staff and parents has led us to make this difficult decision. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Links to optional remote learning activities will be available on the class pages tomorrow morning, should your child wish to complete them.
