Weekly News 27.10.23

Hello everyone,

Thank for your time attending parent meetings this week. If you couldn’t attend this week, and would like to make an appointment for after half term, please contact your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or contact the school office.

Visit to Wroxeter Roman City

I had a great day visiting Wroxeter Roman City on Tuesday with Rowan and Maple classes. Here’s a snapshot of the day from Rowan class. For some unknown reason, they were fascinated by the Romans’ toilet habits !

We hope you all have a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 7th November.

National Sleep Helpline: We are here to help

This wonderful free resource (see below) can help parents and children to learn more about their sleep and develop better bedtime routines. Sleep is essential to brain function; by helping children to sleep better, we can help them to succeed in school.
At any given time up to 40% of adults and 50% of children (this rises to 80% with a SEND diagnosis) have difficulties with their sleep. Yet in a recent survey, almost 60% of adults felt there was a lack of support for sleep issues. Sleep problems can leave people feeling isolated and lonely.
Our free helpline is run by trained sleep advisors, many of whom are specialists in working with SEND. We can talk to young people directly, or parents (we can also talk to adults, including older people, about their sleep issues).
The helpline is open 5 times a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings 7-9pm, and Monday, Wednesday mornings 9-11am. The number is 03303 530 541.

They are also excited to announce that they will be expanding their offering with the introduction of their Girls Football Development Centres at the same venue and times for girls in school Years 2 to 5.  They will be offering a FREE TASTER SESSION on Saturday 11th November for girls who would like to try one of their sessions before committing to a block of sessions.  The aim of the sessions will be to increase participation numbers in the female game and to promote players into their female talent pathway at the Club so that they will one day represent the Wolves Women’s First Team!

Bonfire Night Safety

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging you and you family to stay safe this Bonfire Night and Halloween.

There are several ways you can ensure your family is safe while enjoying bonfires, fireworks and trick or treating.

We advise you to visit an organised event rather than having a bonfire or setting off fireworks yourselves, however if you do decide to celebrate at home please take a look at our advice for safe handling of fireworks and bonfires here www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/campaign/bonfire-and-firework-safety.

We also work closely with other organisations to ensure you have the most up to date safety advice and information.

StayWise has some fantastic advice for Halloween and you can check out their top tips here  Halloween Safety Advice | StayWise

If you’re concerned about teaching your children the dangers of fireworks, or not sure what to do if your child suffers a burn or is scalded, the child Accident protection Trust (CAPT) has some great advice and you can find a host of information on their website here.
